Greenwave has compared Wind Engine test performance with real life voyages using four years of data from  actual ships? logs from a small bulk carrier fleet.

These results show an average annual saving of 13%. Typically this would represent around 1,000 tons of fuel and over 3,000 tons of CO2 per ship per year.

Greenwave has built a full scale wind engine which has been tested at a purpose built facility at Port of Blyth in Northumberland. Results of these tests have confirmed the earlier findings.
