Our mission

Greenwave at Posidonia Cup

Greenwave's mission is 'to promote, for the benefit of the public, the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment, by raising awareness of and developing practical steps to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide and other pollution generated from shipping'.

Reducing the impact on the planet of CO2 and other harmful emissions from shipping has been the charity's objective from the start. It achieves this objective by developing technologies and policies.

Technologies are created through research and development led by the twin disciplines of science and engineering.

Programmes take development through to proven full scale prototypes independently verified by a leading classification society to ensure they not only work but are fit for purpose in the hazardous environment that ships have to endure.

Once proven, the technologies are licensed back to the industry. Royalties earned from licensing are used by the charity for R&D investment in new emission reduction programmes.
