		Greenwave is a registered charity.
		We are researching and creating practical, affordable and sustainable solutions that will reduce the amount of CO2, and other emissions, from the global fleet of merchant ships by reducing the amount of fossil fuels they burn

		Why we started The Kyoto protocol on climate change handed the problem of shipping emissions to the IMO (International Maritime Organisation – part of the United Nations). The difficulty in coordinating global agreements has resulted in slow progress. In the main, the advances have related to lowering SOx and NOx (emissions that contribute to acid rain and affect human health). But the greenhouse gas problem of CO2 still remained. Greenwave has funded original research and development to find ways to start reducing CO2 now, while there’s still time. To ensure we encouraged maximum take-up of our solutions, we set ourselves some very pragmatic criteria right from the start. Our sustainable emission and fuel saving solutions must: Be capable of fitting to most existing ships. Not require extra crew on the ship. Pay for the purchase and fitting costs within three years from fuel saved. Not later…Now! CO2 reduction from shipping is possible now. Greenwave has the solutions. Our first technologies will be available by the end of 2008 and more will follow in 2009. Greenwave’s work is funded by charitable donations. Our only objective is to improve the global environment by reducing the emission of CO2 and other harmful gases from shipping. Greenwave protects the intellectual property rights of its solutions, to avoid commercial exploitation by third parties, but our solutions are freely available to the maritime industry, who we actively encourage to adopt them. Because Greenwave reduces CO2 by reducing fuel consumption... everybody wins: Reduced greenhouse gases A cleaner environment Less acid rain Improved human health The oil that is rapidly running out lasts a little longer, giving us more time to develop alternative energies Ships, that carry 90% of world trade, cost less to operate
